The latest SMMT figures show the Fiesta to be the country’s best-selling car and the Transit range to be the second best-selling commercial vehicle.

Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director of Ford of Britain, said: “It’s an exciting time as we continue to build on our successes and prepare to launch the all-new Fiesta.”

Industry car sales in May were down 8.5% to 186,265 units, compared with May 2016. Ford car sales were 20,514, giving it a 4,858 registrations lead over its nearest rival.
