MTN Halts Who Wants To Be A Millionaire On Nigerian TV

Struggling telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria has stopped the popular TV programme, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. The Nigeria’s leading GSM service provider a while ago beamed its last episode to the teeming Nigerian viewers. The show has run on the nation’s television for 13 years.

Nigerians have quite a lot to say about the temporary cancellation of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,” a TV game show which was a source of entertainment and knowledge for 13 years.

On Sunday, June 25, 2017, Frank Idoho, who hosted the show since it made its debut, announced that the show is going on a temporary break.

We thank you for being with us through the 13-year-journey of enriching and impacting the lives of Nigerians. We wouldn’t have been able to enrich so many Nigerians without the help of our sponsor @MTNNG  So we say THANK YOU!For the first time since its inception 13 years ago, #WWTBAM will be going off air from today 25th June” it further tweeted.

The game show’s host Frank Edoho also tweeted about the show going off the air.

Sadly, we are going on a break cos our sponsor pulled out. But we thank @MTNNG for being with us all these years. Please thank them for us.

Frank Edoho has been the host of the show since inception. Over a decade, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was a household game show that attracted millions of viewers.
