BIC 1 shavers claims 70% market share

Leading international manufacturer of stationeries, lighters and shavers, BIC, has stated that one of its brands, the shaver has captured 70% Nigerian market share as gathered by Marketing Edge Nigeria.

The Country Business Development Manager, BIC World, Mr. Adeyemi Ojo, said the brand was doing very well in the market because consumers loved the high quality of the brand.  Ojo told MARKETING EDGE that a BIC 1 shaver was far ahead of its competitors in the market place.

He said: “In BIC 1 shaver, we are far ahead of competition by over 70% market share and in every other product that we produce; we are ahead of competition as well.”

He added that BIC World would continue to produce products of excellent qualities that would satisfy consumers’ demand and make them patronize the brand.

Ojo further said: “We believe in the quality of products that we are giving and we believe that what we give will make our consumers to always come back. We have never compromised in terms of our quality; we have never compromised in terms of our standard in anyway. We give them what we claim that we are giving them and with that we are not afraid of competition.”

Société BIC S.A., commonly referred to simply as BIC and stylized as BiC, is a corporation based in Clichy, France best known for making ballpoint pens. It was founded in 1945 by Baron Marcel Bich and has become known for making disposable consumer products such as lighters, razors, mechanical pencils, and printed paper.

BIC started to produce disposable razors during the 1970s. In 1975, the brand released the one-piece polystyrene razor that became a highly demanded product. During the 1980s Bic Shaving product reached $52 million in sales and conquered 22.4% of the market shares. Bic is also known for making disposable razors for both men and women.

BIC has established itself in West and Central Africa since the early seventies first in stationeries, lighters and shavers.

In July, to promote the brand equity in Nigeria, Product Manager Lighters and Shavers West Africa, Bigué Diouf announced a coupon based promotion aimed at rewarding consumers for their loyalty and patronage over the years.

Diouf said the pan Nigeria consumer promo, which will also induce trial by new users will offer prospective and existing consumers the opportunity to buy a pack or more of BIC 1 Shaver and find the coupon placed inside the pack.

The promotion, which tenure was for the months August and September 2017 respectively in Onitsha and Lagos witnessed a draw at the end of every month where loads of prizes and the star prize of a car were won.
