Each season of Coke Studio Africa is proving to be one show that viewers look forward to and this year’s edition is no exception, going by the electrifying performances on the first and second episodes, MarketingEdge reports.

Beginning with the collaborative efforts of Nigeria’s dancehall king, Patoranking and Tanzania’s phenomenon Alikiba, the two artistes had an awesome outing doing each other’s cover of their hit tracks “Chekecha Cheketua” and “My Woman” respectively. Their energetic and electrifying performances sure captured the hearts of the audience.

Thereafter, they went on to deliver an original track “Katika” which they worked on, alongside Nigeria superstar producer, Mastercraft. The song, a fusion of Nigeria’s Ibo highlife sound and East African Makossa vibe had the dancefloor jumping.

On Episode 2, Nigeria’s Afrobeat star, Runtown and South Africa’s master lyrists, Nasty C killed the beat doing each other’s cover of their songs, “Hell No” and “Mad over You” respectively. It was refreshing to see the rap side of Runtown come to bare on the song as well as Nasty C who showed that aside rap, he also has singing skills to offer.

Done with their covers, Runtown and Nasty C returned to heighten performance for the night with the melodic flow of their original track “Said” which was produced by Ivorian megahit producer, Shado Chris. Their delivery could pass off as the favorite of the Episode, with the in-house band in sync with the amazing fellows on stage.
