British Trade Envoy Praises Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan

Unilever Nigeria Plc has been commended for building its business on the principles of sustainability, this commendation was made by John Howell, British Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria.

John Howell who spoke during his courtesy visit to the company’s head office in Lagos stated that Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan as worthy of emulation, because of its impacts the environment, health and job satisfaction for workers.

In a statement received by BrandSpur, the envoy said, “I am impressed with the fruitful and impactful collaborations that Unilever is building, particularly with Freedom Foundation NGO. The British Prime Minister is also aligned with partnerships of this nature. She spoke about it at the U.N. and called for the organized private sectors’ participation to complement government’s drive to end trafficking around the world.”

While reacting to Howell – the Vice President, Supply Chain, Unilever West Africa, Sid Ramaswamy, said the visit was as timely. He further stated that the Plan has influenced Unilever’s mode of operation in all areas; He said, “In every area of our business, we are concerned about the environment we operate in and keen on making positive impacts through our social missions.”

Uzoma Dania, Executive Director, Freedom Foundation, who was also present during the visit, expressed gratitude to the company while emphasizing that the foundation had been able to achieve many of its objectives due to Unilever Nigeria Plc’s support.
