Dana Air has become a member of the prestigious International Air Transport Association (IATA), this is in line with the aviation company’s objectives as well to show its level of commitment to operational efficiency and best practices.
This membership has given Dana the ‘rite of passage’ to a body of over 275 airline companies all over the world. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world’s airlines, it represents companies that constitutes about 83% of total air traffic globally. IATA supports many areas of aviation activity and helps formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues, with the mission is to represent, lead, and serve the airline industry; becoming a member of this prestigious body involves a rigorous evaluation and screening process.
At the presentation of the membership certificate by IATA officials in Lagos, Dr. Samson Fatokun, the Area Manager, South-West for IATA, emphasized on the process saying, ‘not all airlines are members of IATA as a result of its stringent admission process”, he also commended Dana Air for making the list and joining over 300 airlines presently on the association’s registry.
Dr Fatokun further said: “We have requirements for any airline that wants to join the IATA family and one of those requirements is that they must pass the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and this has kept most of them back. “IATA comes with a requirement of quality and people expect the airline to operate with recommended standards of aviation globally. We commend Dana Air for this feat and hope that they will keep up the good work.’’
