The sale of any form of alcoholic drinks has been banned in all motor parks in Lagos by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) ahead of the festive period.

This was made known by Mr. Tajudeen Agbede, the Lagos State Chairman of NURTW, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He stated that a task force has been set up to enforce the ban across the state. In his words, “We don’t want to experience any form of an accident on the highways as a result of alcoholic drinks during the festive period. “We have four units of the task force going around the motor parks, at least three times a week, to enforce the ban on sales of alcoholic drinks within and outside our parks,”

It was also confirmed that the ban would continue after the festivities. Agbede appealed to commuters to board vehicles at designated motor parks for the security of their lives and property instead of boarding unsafe vehicles by the roadside.
