Coke Studio Africa 5 revealed international superstar, Jason Derulo, to collaborate with African music superstars in the Special Global Fusion edition of Coke Studio. Jason Derulo, urban and pop megastar is one of the world’s most successful songwriters and recording artistes selling over 50million singles worldwide and raking up 11 platinum singles so far. He came to Africa to share his genius as well as to learn from the experience of working with African’s hottest artistes.

Two of Jason Derulo’s original songs were given a unique Coke Studio African Twist and the results were magical. Two original hits with Jason and other Coke Studio African Artistes were conceptualized, recorded and performed. JahPrayzah from Zimbabwe, playing the Mbira, Betty G from Ethiopia and Joey B from Ghana collaborated to add some flavor to a Jason Derulo’s hit, “In my head” and Locko from Cameroon, Denise from Madagascar.

Mozambique’s Mr Bow reimagined another Jason Durelo’s chat topper, “Trumpets.” These were the covers done by the Coke Studio Artiste. After listening to the cover versions of both songs done by the African Artistes, Jason Durelo said, “The performance was lit, I was not expecting it. The guys really tore the roof down, JahPrayzahreally shined but all of them really killed it.”

There were two original songs done by Jason Durelo in collaboration with the African Artiste. They were titled, “push up” and “one on one.” The two tracks really got Jason Derulo to showcase his musical talents as he created magical music with the African Artistes. From Nigeria, Falz and Masterkraft extremely played a huge role in the creation of Jason Derulo’s original song. Masterkraft was the producer of the song, “Push up” and Falz again flawed it with his prolific rap skills on the “one on one” track.

Coke Studio has truly exposed the potentials in music collaborations within Africa and even broken the barriers with the special global fusion
