Average Intercity Transport Fare increased to N1,505.00 in Nov, 2017 from N1,474.90 in October 2017 – NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released the Transport fare watch report for the month of November 2017 detailing average prices paid by consumers across states, Brand Spur Nigeria reports.
The Transport fare watch report for November 2017 covers the following categories namely bus journey within the city per drop constant route; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; airfare charge for the specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and waterway passenger transport.
In the report signed by the Statistician General of the Federation and Chief Executive, NBS, Dr. Yemi Kale and made available to BrandSpur Nigeria, the bureau said the average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city increased by 7.51% month-on-month and 18.89% year-on-year to N138.19 in November 2017 from N128.54 in October 2017.
States with highest bus journey fare within the city in November 2017 were Abuja FCT (N362.50), Cross River (N214.29) and Adamawa (N206.66) while States with lowest bus journey fare within the city in November 2017 were Katsina (N76.66), Borno (N75.73) and Ogun (N70.72).
Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity increased by 14.78% month-on-month and 2.04% year-on-year to N1,505.00 in November 2017 from N1,474.90 in October 2017.
States with highest bus journey fare intercity in November 2017 were Abuja FCT (N4500.00), Adamawa (N2,947.75) and Benue (N2,410.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within the city in November 2017 were Bayelsa (N9,33.33), Katsina (N898.27) and Kano (N795.45).
Average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey decreased by -0.09% month-on-month and 20.11% year-on-year to N32,492.56 in November 2017 from N32,520.66 in October 2017.
States with the highest airfare in November 2017 were Abuja FCT (N49,000.00), Edo & Jigawa (N40,000.00) and Akwa Ibom & Delta (N37,000.00) while States with the lowest airfare in November 2017 were Osun (N26,749.88), Katsina (N26,000.00) and Kogi (N25,000.00).
