The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) recently identified CEO Jide Martin as one of Africa’s Change Makers!

According to UNICEF, Jide Martin creates African Superheroes to inspire children and pass on moral values.

Launched in 2013, Comic Republic is dedicated to driving the growth of the African comic market, and publishes various African-inspired comics available online for free. Since its inception, it has a stable of titles and characters that are being dubbed the “African Avengers” – among them Guardian Prime, an almost Messianic Superman-analogue; super-smart bookworm Nutech, gifted with “teletechnopathy and magnetism” abilities; fearsome warrior-woman Ireti; super-fast Maxspeed.

It is also home to Avonome, Aje, Hero Generation, Scion Immortal, Eru, Ireti, Visionary, Hero Kekere, Uhuru, Legend of the windriders and many more characters.

Jide Martin expressed his delight at UNICEF’s recognition. He said, “We are honored to be recognized for the impact we are making through comic books.”
Comic Republic has published over 40 comic books and distributed them all free to grow the comic book culture in Africa.

The Company was named Best Comic Publishing Firm in Nigeria at the 2015 Lagos Comic Convention.

On the 23rd of November, 2016, Comic Republic was featured as an African Startup by the American news agency, CNN
