Equity Market extends bearish run to Five consecutive trading sessions

The Equity Market on Friday closed the week shedding 0.46%, extending the bearish run to five consecutive trading days. Similarly, market breadth closed negative, recording 23 gainers against 32 losers. 

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) shed 198.97 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.46% to close at 43,127.92 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization shed N71.40 billionrepresenting a decline of 0.46% to close at N15.48 trillion.

The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; CADBURY (-4.52%), CCNN (-4.47%), ACCESS (-4.40%), ZENITHBANK (-3.44%), UBA (-2.83%), UACN (-2.62%), GUARANTY (-2.04%), DANGFLOUR (-1.24%), FLOURMILL (-1.21%), DANGSUGAR (-0.91%), NB (-0.36%) and SEPLAT (-0.01%).

Foreign Exchange
The Naira at the inter-bank (official) remained unchanged at N305.85 against Yesterday’s closing price. The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N359.98, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.27, representing a 0.04% appreciation against Yesterday’s closing price. A total of $170.46 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
We expect the FX market to trade within existing range in the next session.   
Money Market
OBB and O/N rates closed at 43.33% and 45.50%, representing a 3.33% and 2.50% depreciation against Yesterday’s closing position.
