“My Wife is Praying for Me”

I was raised between the pews as my mother was a church administrative staff. My childhood and my holidays were spent in her office in the Foursquare Church where I grew up.

Over time, in conversations with Christian men, I have heard, what in my estimation ranks as one of the most irresponsible statements to come out of a Christian man, “My wife is praying for me”. They make this statement to justify their personal prayerlessness.

When a man tries to pass his assigned role to his wife, more often than not, disaster results. Paul gave us the order: The head of the woman is the man as Christ is the head of the church. Does the church pray for Jesus or Jesus prays for the church? Rebecca was barren. It was the intercession of her husband, Isaac, that made God open her womb (Gen. 25:21).

Dear Christian entrepreneur, your wife should be the one boasting of the fact that her husband is praying for her and not vice-versa. Your prayer as the man and head of your home is key to unlocking the miraculous. Stop relishing in the fact that your wife is praying for you. Of course, she should. But she should do it to complement yours.

Take your place in prayer, man!
