Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, LASPARK, has extended its tree-planting drive to some hinterlands across the State under its ‘Community Tree Planting’ exercise.

The General Manager of the Agency, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, at the weekend led the management team to Eredo LCDA in Epe Division where she enlightened the residents of the areas on the importance of tree-planting and the need to plant trees along the just constructed highways and some inner streets.

While extolling the benefits of the different species of trees planted within the community to the residents, Mrs. Adebiyi-Abiola maintained that the beautification of major roads within the area would further complement the ongoing urban regeneration drive of the State government in the entire Epe division.

She urged the residents to take ownership of the trees, nurture and protect them from all forms of abuse, stressing that any intentional damage done to the trees would create a setback for the aesthetic value which the Agency is positioning the community to achieve.

The General Manager said that similar exercise had earlier been carried out in Alimosho local government and would be replicated across other divisions so that all residents can key into the vision of regular tree planting and protection of Lagos environment from degradation.

She used the occasion to make a renewed call to residents of the State to cultivate the habit of marking significant celebrations with tree planting in view of its many benefits to the environment and humans.
