Inspired by recent strategic technical recruitments by Ikeja Electric Plc, enrollment into Technical Colleges in Lagos States has soared in the past one year, breathing new life to a field of study many had considered unpopular.

Disclosing this at a press briefing aimed at rendering the stewardship of the State Ministry of Education, which she also superintendents, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule said enrollments into technical colleges in the last one year have increased by 120 percent, even as graduands are getting employment with blue-chip companies like Ikeja Electric Plc, which she noted had recently recruited 115 technicians to work across the six Business units in its network.

With six (6) technical Colleges situated at Ado-Soba, Agidingbi Ikeja, Ikorodu, Ikotun, Odemola-Epe and Yaba, applicants interested in technical studies are now increasingly exploring technical education. The new opportunities provided by companies such as Ikeja Electric encourage some graduate technicians from the Technical Colleges to further pursue professional certifications with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN).
