In recognition of its commitment to talent growth initiatives, Procter and Gamble (P&G) has been awarded the Outstanding Talent Strategy Award by the HR People Magazine Awards due to the Company’s Grow from Within culture.

P&G’s ‘Grow from within Talent Philosophy’ is a system whereby the Company hires over 95% of its Talent straight out of school and develops them into the type of leaders it desires. It is the Company’s belief that this approach is a strong differentiation in the industry and that it translates to heavy investment in the recruitment and development of Talent in preparation for senior roles.  This philosophy is intended to aid people’s commitment and retention while ensuring quality Talent Management.

The HR People Magazine Awards is set to celebrate the significant role of human resources in achieving both people and business excellence. It is awarded to companies upon critical evaluation of its HR best practices, HR program, initiatives and professionalism of HR staff. The ultimate goal of the HR People Magazine Awards is to enhance Nigeria’s talent through the creation of a vibrant human capital industry. P&G was awarded having met all the requirements.

Speaking at the Award Ceremony, Mofoluwaso Ilevbare, Head of Human Resource for P&G Nigeria said; “We hire the best & build from within by developing people early on towards their destination role through systemic development & planned experiences. We enable the best fit, that is, we carefully match people to roles based on performance, skills, strengths and experiences. We put this process in place in a bid to achieve our purpose and growth strategy of improving more consumers’ lives in small but meaningful ways each day”.

P&G’s Talent Management Strategy is developed by articulating the Company goals, designing a competency model that will enable the achievement of these goals and be ensuring its recruitment and development plans are built behind this competency model.
