For the second year in a row, Finland is number 1, well done (or hyvin tehty as they say in Finnish).

Four key things we learned from the 2019 World Happiness Report.

  • Overall the world has got less happy in the last 10 years (particularly if you’re in Italy or the USA, but if you’re in China or Germany then things have gotten a lot better)
  • Despite Brexit, the UK has climbed 4 places to 14th this year! The USA has continued to fall dropping from 18th to 19th.
  • Increasing social support by one third has a larger impact on overall happiness as doubling GDP. Let’s bring social issues back into focus!
  • Nordic countries with high taxes still rule the top places with only Australia dropping out of the top 10, knocked out by Austria.

Below is a handy summary of the top ten happiest countries in the world from our friends at the Happiness Research Institute.
