Leading Pay TV organization, Star Times is originating unique first online film festival in Africa to strengthen African local content creators.

The festival tagged Pan-African Online Film Festival (PAOFF), is a periodically online film honours contest accessible to all indigenous professional film and music video producers.

Ariel Wang, Operation Director of StarTimes ON, in an announcement, stated that the festival was organised to encourage the online content creation industry in Africa.

She stated, “It is an online age and local online video contents will be imperative support of StarTimes ON’s content tactics.

“That’s why we organise PAOFF awards and we genuinely hope the awards contest will promote the growth of local online video creation and view the growth of African online video industry.”

The festival will operate on a mobile application, StarTimes ON, an online streaming service that provides live TV, video-on-demand on news, entertainment and series.

The platform is a fans’ voting system for all videos that are qualified for the awards competition, which will include favourite film ranking board, favourite short film ranking board, and favourite MV board.

According to StarTimes, all videos will be listed in the three boards based on their categories, and rank according to votes from StarTimes ON users.

Also, number one video of each board will win the quarterly ‘Best Film Award’, ‘Best Short Film Award’ and ‘Best MV Award’, with the producer getting USD 1,500 as a prize.

StarTimes currently has 14 million users and is dedicated to providing ultimate entertainment and experience for African online users.
