It’s no news that with technology at the forefront of business operations, processes are simpler, faster and bottlenecks are eliminated.

When HR and technology meet, innovation is expected. It’s however always not the case as HR professionals haven’t understood the business enough to know when, how and what technological solutions to deploy to ensure business value delivery.

Knowledge is now commoditized and manual skills will no longer hold a premium. Therefore in deploying learning interventions, we should be able to connect to our participants on a social, analytical, mobile and a cloud-based level.

As HR professionals we have a role to play in building ‘learning organizations’ characterized by a collaborative learning system and a culture that promotes knowledge sharing. Leadership, culture and strategy are innovation pillars. Strategies work when you have the right leadership and culture to drive them.

Ultimately it’s all about value! What value is HR bringing to the business table given the data and technology available? What conversations on innovation are we having? Let’s remember it’s not technology or innovation for itself but for the delivery of the organization’s strategic goals…
