Pacific Alliance: Nestlé, together with 78 partner companies to offer 35,000 opportunities for young people by 2020

The fourth Pacific Alliance Youth Summit took place for the first time in Mexico, with Nestlé bringing together 78 partner companies for the event. The companies reaffirmed their commitment to young people and their intention to offer 35,000 opportunities for jobs and training by the end of 2020.

On this occasion, Laurent Freixe, Nestlé CEO for the Americas said, “We are very proud and pleased to hold the Pacific Alliance Youth Summit for the first time in Mexico and to welcome the representatives of the countries of the Pacific Alliance. With the fourth Pacific Alliance Youth Summit, we continue to promote dual education and boost the labour competitiveness of young people through improving their skills and abilities.”

The summit welcomed young people from across the Pacific Alliance countries, as well as representatives from the governments of Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Switzerland. The International Labour Organization, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Iberoamerican Youth Organization also took part.

The summit focused on the future of work, the skills needed for the 21st Century, as well as the important role of agriculture as a catalyst for the economic and social development of the four countries.
