The average prices paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel), Household Kerosene and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) have increased while the cost of premium motor spirit (petrol) has decreased, the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics has said.

According to a report, the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) decreased by -1.2% year-on-year and -0.2% month-on-month to N145.0 in July 2019 from N145.4 in June 2019.

“States with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Kwara (N146.67), Ondo (N146.47) and Ebonyi (N146.43).” 

“States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Abuja (N143.00), Kogi (N143.00) and Katsina (N142.50).”

On national household kerosene, the bureau said the “average price paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel) increased by 0.12% month-on-month and 10.10% year-on-year to N224.96 in July 2019 from to N224.69 in June 2019.”

The report listed the states with the highest average price of diesel were Borno (N258.89), Niger (N243.75) and Kwara (N243.00) while states with the lowest average price of diesel were Rivers (N204.06), Plateau (N202.00) and Bayelsa (N195.00).

In its report, the bureau also said the average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene decreased by -0.13% month-on-month and increased by 14.14% year-on-year to N316.03 in July 2019 from N316.43 in June 2019.

“States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Abia (N388.33) , Enugu (N378.72), and Anambra (N357.14).” 

“States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Benue (N250.00), Kwara (N250.00) and Nassarawa (N250.00).”

Similarly, the average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene decreased by -0.44% month-on-month and increased by 21.10% year-on-year to N1,211.18 in July 2019 from N1,1216.53 in June 2019.

“States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Gombe (N1,436.15), Taraba (N1,376.21) and Jigawa (N1,360.00).” 

“States with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Osun (N1,071.15) Akwa Ibom (N1,070.75) and Bayelsa (N1,026.15).”

Meanwhile, the average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 1.47% month-on-month and 0.71% year-on-year to N2,024.80 in July 2019 from N1995.38 in June 2019.

States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Adamawa (N2,492.50), Bauchi (N2,487.78) and Borno (N2,375.00).

States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Abuja (N1,778.33), Osun (N1,776.56) and Enugu (N1,733.25).

Similarly, the average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) decreased by -0.23% month-on-month and -0.66% year-on-year to N4,216.29 in July 2019 from N4,226.04 in June 2019.

States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Akwa Ibom (N4,657.22), Benue (N4,600.67) and Bayelsa (N4,588.89).

States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Lagos (N3,878.95), Oyo (N3,836.11) and Kano (N3,800.00).
