The recently launched Marine Unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, averted a suicide attempt by rescuing a male adult who jumped off the Lekki-Link Bridge on Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1.

According to the situation report, the man, (name withheld), 36 years old, jumped into the Lagoon at about 4:45 pm on Tuesday but was promptly rescued from drowning within five minutes by the Marine Unit “Sharks Squad” alongside Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, officials operating in the area.

After the rescue operation, he was immediately examined, treated for minor injuries sustained and counselled by the Bravo Unit of LASEMA before he was handed over to Police officers at Maroko Police Station for further action.

Recall that LASEMA’s Marine Unit, last week, took delivery of several new boats procured by the State government as well as carried out rescue simulation for its operations.
