No less than N200 billion has been committed to the National Social Housing Programme (NSHP) of the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
It would be recalled that last year (2020), President Muhammadu Buhari approved N2.3 trillion ESP prepared by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo-led Economic Sustainability Committee.
Brand Spur Nigeria, however, understands that the presidency came up with the NSHP scheme after the N2.3 trillion approval.
Amongst other things, the scheme is expected to provide 300,000 affordable and modest homes for low-income citizens of Nigeria. This article will guide you on how to own a house under the programme.
For individuals:
- The NSHP portal url is https://nshp.gov.ng Type this into your browser (accessible via mobile or PC)
- Choose Individual (for ordinary citizens of Nigeria seeking to own a home individually)
- Fill your personal details e.g first name, last name, date of birth, address, etc.
- Enter your background details e.g your sector, employment status, current rent rate, average monthly income, etc
- Pick your housing needs. The available options are: 2-rooms (N2 million), 3-rooms (N2.75 million), 4-rooms (N3.5 million).
- Choose where you want your home e.g the state, local government of choice, etc
- Submit
For Cooperatives:

- Choose Cooperatives (for registered groups and their members)
- Fill in the basic information of the registered group e.g CAC registration number, state, email, etc
- Fill in the details of the principal officers and positions held
- Enter background details of the group e.g number of active members, contribution, etc
- Select the housing needs of the beneficiaries e.g state, lga of choice, etc
- Answer all requisite questions and Submit
For Partnerships:

- Choose Partnerships (for Nigerian Developers and Producers)
- Choose the category of delivery partner you wish to operate within.
- Fill all required partner details
