The average price of imported rice decreased by 4.3% in March, the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has said. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released the Selected food price watch data for the month of September 2018 detailing average prices paid by consumers across states, Brand Spur Nigeria reports.
Selected food price watch data for September 2018 reflected that the average price of 1 dozen of Agric eggs medium size decreased year-on-year by -3.00% and month-on-month by -0.3% to N472.73 in September 2018 from N474.13 in August 2018 while the average price of piece of Agric eggs medium size(price of one) decreased year-on-year by -9.9% and month-on-month by 1.5% to N41.17 in September 2018 from N41.79 in August 2018.
In the report signed by the Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive, NBS, Dr Yemi Kale and made available to Brand Spur Nigeria, the bureau said the average price of 1kg of tomato decreased year-on-year by -1.8% and increased month-on-month by 4.3% to N328.26 in September 2018 from N336.65 in August 2018.
According to the report, the average price of 1kg of rice (imported high quality sold loose) decreased year-on-year by 6.7% and decreased month-on-month by 1.0% to N371.32 in September 2018 from N375.02 in August 2018.
Similarly, the average price of 1kg of yam tuber increased year-on-year by 8.0% and decreased month-on-month by 4.3% to N280.28 in September 2018 from N292.97 in August 2018.
