When we speak about Africa, we speak of gorgeous plains, majestic waterfalls, wild jungles, extraordinary cultures and a continent that is simply magical. Many Nigerians want to explore Africa but hesitate to do so because of lack of information, poor connectivity among countries and other such hurdles. So, I thought: I have made it my mission to criss-cross this continent and uncover all the gems that could help Africans travel better, especially Nigerians who find that many countries have tough visa policies for us!
As a geographer, maps appeal to me so guess, what? I created a colorful map that is visually appealing and yet summarizes how easy it is to visit every single African country.
Disclaimer: This guide is supposed to provide preliminary information to help you on your trips and is not a substitute for immigration laws as provided by each country. I also welcome you to share more current or updated information. So what country in Africa have you always wondered about? Here’s what you need to know about flight connections, visa requirements and overall ease of visiting that country as a Nigeria. You ready? Let’s go!
1. Algeria
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
An Algerian visa can only be obtained at the embassy in Abuja. Hop on a Turkish Airlines flight from Lagos to Algiers, via Istanbul and grab a good book to read for the 8-hour layover. Egypt Air also offers connections to Algiers via Cairo, even though the layover is well over 12 hours. The quickest (but priciest) way to get to Algiers from Lagos is on Air France, via Paris.
2. Angola
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 4/6
To get to Angola, a visa application must be filed in the embassy in Abuja. Arik Air offers direct flights from Lagos to Luanda. Kenya Airways provides an alternative from Lagos to Luanda via Nairobi. Lengthier options are Lagos to Luanda on Ethiopian Airlines (with a long layover Addis Ababa) and South African Airways (with a long layover in Johannesburg).
3. Benin
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 6/6
Benin Republic is a short drive away from Lagos and is one of the most underrated tourism destinations close to Nigeria. Nigerians do not require visas to enter Benin Republic, since it is an ECOWAS country. In fact, you can use any govt-issued ID card (international passport, National ID card, etc) to travel between both countries. Given the short distance between the two, there are no flights directly from Lagos to Cotonou, except a few flights which make a technical stop in Cotonou on the way out of Lagos. However, the route is well serviced by road transport companies. You can also hire a private vehicle to take you from Nigeria into Benin. If you set out in time from Lagos, the ride to the border could take as little as 2 hours.
4. Botswana
RED (DIFFICULT) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 2/6
Before you visit Botswana, you will need to submit a visa application to Botswana’s embassy in Abuja. Applications could take between 7 and 14 days. Travelling to Botswana could take up to two days and require multiple layovers. The airlines flying from Nigeria to Gaborone are South African Airways (with a 12hr stop in Johannesburg), Ethiopian Airways (with two stops in Addis Ababa and Johannesburg) and RwandAir (with two stops in Kigali and Johannesburg).
5. Burkina Faso
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
This West African nation is quickly becoming a destination of interest for its history, culture and national parks. Nigerians do not require visas to get to Burkina Faso as the country is a member of ECOWAS. You can catch an Air Cote D’Ivoire flight (with a stop in Abidjan) or an Asky flight (with a stop in Lome) to get to Burkina Faso’s capital city – Ouagadougou.
6. Burundi
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
There are two options to gain a visa into Burundi: either by applying at the embassy or by seeking a visa-on-arrival letter from Burundi authorities. Kenya Airways offers the best connection from Lagos to Bujumbura, via Nairobi. You can also choose to fly on Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa) or RwandAir (via Kigali).
7. Cameroon
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Interested in climbing Mount Cameroon – the region’s highest mountain or exploring the black sand beaches of Limbe? Cameroon is quite easy to get to from Nigeria. Nigerians do not require visas to travel to Cameroon, hurray! There are no direct flights from Nigeria to Cameroon, however, Asky Airlines will take you from Lagos to Douala with a stop in Lome.
8. Cape Verde
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
Cape Verde is West Africa’s very own paradise island. Thankfully, as an ECOWAS nation, the island is visa-free for Nigerians. However, getting there is tougher than it needs to be. With poor connections in the region, most people have to fly from Lagos to Casablanca on Air Maroc and then fly down to Praia. This makes the journey long and tedious. This is one route that is in dire need of better connectivity.
9. Central African Republic
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
Ever thought of visiting Central African Republic (CAR)? You will be required to submit an application for a visa at the CAR embassy. Travelling is a little less tedious. From Lagos to Bangui, you can travel on Kenya Airways (via Nairobi), Asky Airlines (via Lome) or Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa).
10. Chad
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
Nigeria’s north-eastern neighbor is so close yet so far away. Even though Nigerians are free to visit Chad without a visa, the best flight option is on Asky Airlines with a stopover in Lome. This can quickly turn into an 8 hour journey. The alternative is to travel by road through the land borders; a decent option for those travelling from Northern Nigeria.
11. Comoros
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
This small but beautiful island north of Madagascar allows Nigerians visit by obtaining a visa-on-arrival. Get ready for a 12-hour layover in Addis Ababa when flying from Lagos to Moroni on Ethiopian Airlines.
12. Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo Kinshasa)
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
Congo is a large country almost smack in the middle of Africa. It has got some wildlife experiences worth exploring including gorilla treks and nature adventures in the mountains. To get to Kinshasa, Asky Airlines offers the best connections with one short layover in Lome. However, there are also options on Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines with much longer layovers in Nairobi and Addis Ababa, respectively. Obtaining a visa however will require an application at the embassy in Abuja.
13. Republic of Congo (Congo Brazzaville)
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
The smaller Congo is also a country worth visiting and boasts of Livingstone Falls! All Nigerians planning to visit this country will need to submit an application at the embassy and obtain a visa prior to the trip. The embassy of Republic of Congo is located in Lagos. Once you get your visa, you can fly from Lagos to Brazzaville on Kenya Airways (short layover in Nairobi) or on RwandAir (long layover in Kigali).
14. Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
Ivory Coast is so close to Nigeria and a visa-free destination, thanks to their shared ECOWAS membership. On some days of the week, Asky Airlines flies from Lagos to Freetown, with a short layover in Lome. Africa World Airlines is also a viable option on some days of the week. While a few flights fly to Freetown, the frequency of the flights bumps down the accessibility of Ivory Coast from an easy destination to a semi-difficult one.
15. Djibouti
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Looking to make a trip to the home of the famous Lake Assal? Djibouti offers visas on arrival and thankfully, there are a number of flights into and out of Djibouti city. Kenya Airways flies from Lagos to Djibouti, with a short layover in Nairobi. A lengthier alternative is to fly Ethiopian Airlines from Lagos to Djibouti, with a 12-hr layover in Addis Ababa.
16. Egypt
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 4/6
Egypt is a fascinating destination and top on many travel bucket-lists for Africa. While Egypt has an online e-visa application process for some countries, Nigeria is not included in this list. So, Nigerians must visit the embassy in Abuja to submit an application. Once you get the visa, getting to Egypt is quite a breeze. Egypt Air has daily direct flights from Lagos to Cairo and Ethiopian Airlines has a daily flight to Cairo with a short layover in Addis Ababa.
17. Equatorial Guinea
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
As an ECOWAS country, Equatorial Guinea is visa-free for Nigerians. Unfortunately, the flight from Lagos to Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines will include a long layover of 12 hours in Addis Ababa. You can also fly on Asky on the outward leg of the journey.
18. Eritrea
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
Getting a visa to Eritrea will require an application at the embassy in Abuja. From Lagos, there are also few flight options to Asmara – Eritrea’s capital. You can fly on Egypt Air (with a short layover in Cairo) or a much longer route on Emirates (with a layover in Dubai).
19. Ethiopia
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 4/6
The land of the Blue Nile Falls and ancient African history is intriguing. While Ethiopia has an e-visa application process and visa on arrival, Nigeria is not eligible for any of those. To visit Ethiopia, Nigerians are required to apply for a visa at the consulate in Abuja. It is however one of the easy to reach countries on the continent. Ethiopian Airlines is the country’s national carrier and flies daily directly from Lagos to Addis Ababa. You can also fly to Ethiopia on Egypt Air (via a short layover in Cairo) and on Kenya Airways (via a short layover in Nairobi).
20. Gabon
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (2/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 5/6
Did you know that Gabon has an e-visa application? This makes it easy to access the renowned national parks and coastline of this central African country. There are direct flights from Lagos to Libreville. Also, you can fly on Air Cote D’Ivoire from Lagos to Libreville with a short layover in Abidjan.
21. Gambia
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
The beautiful beaches of Gambia are a stone’s throw from Nigeria. As members of ECOWAS, Nigerians can visit Gambia visa-free. To get to Banjul, Air Peace offers direct flights a few times a week. Also, Asky Airlines offers flights from Lagos to Banjul with a short layover in Lome.
22. Ghana
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 6/6
Oh, Ghana – our sister country. Even though there are two countries separating Ghana and Nigeria, they feel like border neighbors because of how easily accessible they are to one another. As a Nigerian, you do not need a visa to enter Ghana. There are also dozens of daily non-stop flights on Arik Air, Air Peace and Africa World Airlines.
23. Guinea
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Do you want to explore the Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve or the ancient cultural relics of Conkary? A trip to Guinea is worth the shot. As an ECOWAS country, Guinea is visa-free for Nigerians. Since there are no direct flights, the country is accessible via Air Cote D’Ivoire with one short stop in Abidjan.
24. Guinea Bissau
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
This is one of the most difficult countries to fly into from Nigeria, in West Africa. The easiest connections will take thirty hours, over two long layovers and a lot of wasted time. However, the visa-free access granted to ECOWAS members including Nigeria should be come compensation.
25. Kenya
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 6/6
One of our favorite countries in Africa is also one of the easiest to get to. Kenya has a wealth of tourist attractions and wants you to explore! The country offers visas on arrival to everyone of any nationality. All you have to do is show up at the airport and pay for a visa. And flights? Kenya Airways flies daily out of Lagos directly to Nairobi. That’s not all…there are cheaper options on RwandAir (via Kigali) and Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa). If you want to go to Kenya, you can do so easily and no matter what you’re looking for, the trip will be worth it!
26. Lesotho
RED (DIFFICULT) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 2/6
It is pretty easy to fly into Maseru from Lagos on South African Airways. The short layover in Johannesburg makes it a quick trip. Nonetheless, Lesotho gets a low score because other than the South African Airways option (which includes one layover), there are no other feasible one-ticket options to get to Lesotho. However, you may need to ship your application to the nearest Lesotho embassy. What a hassle!
27. Liberia
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
You already know by now that Nigerians don’t need a visa for Liberia. You also may have guessed that Air Cote D’Ivoire will take you from Lagos to Monrovia with a short layover in Abidjan. Asky will also get you there with a stop in Lome and another in Accra.
28. Libya
RED (DIFFICULT) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 2/6
Libya is not the easiest country to visit from Nigeria. You will need to apply at the Libyan embassy in Abuja prior to your trip. The connections from Lagos to Tripoli are a bit round-about. You’ll need to fly to Istanbul and then Tunis or Frankfurt and then Tunis. It is safe to say that the Lagos – Tripoli route is very poor.
29. Madagascar
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
This is probably the most popular island off the coast of Africa and for good reason. There’s nature, culture, art and the magnificent ocean. Guess what! Nigerians can access this paradise by obtaining a visa on arrival. The flight connections to Antananarivo are also pretty good. You can fly on South African Airways with a short layover in Johannesburg or Kenya Airways with a short layover in Nairobi. The Ethiopian Airlines option via Addis Ababa includes a 12 hour layover.
30. Malawi
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
Nigerians are required to obtain a visa prior to visiting Malawi. However, there are no Malawian diplomatic missions in Nigeria. Please, feel free to provide more information if you have visited Malawi on a Nigerian passport before. Kenya Airways, South African Airways and Ethiopian Airlines all offer flights from Lagos to Lilongwe, with layovers in Nairobi, Johannesburg and Addis Ababa respectively.
31. Mali
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Mali is a visa-free country for Nigeria, thanks to ECOWAS membership. While it is not often considered as a place to visit, there are pockets of attractions in Mali such as the ancient civilization of Timbuktu, As with many countries in Western Africa, the best options with short layovers are Asky Airlines (via Lome) and Air Cote D’Ivoire (via Abidjan).
32. Mauritania
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
Mauritania has made it easy to visit their country by granting visa-on-arrival to everyone, including Nigerians. However, good luck flying to Nouakchott. I couldn’t find a flight with less than two layovers. Of course, it is not impossible but you may have to hop, skip and jump between cities in North Africa to get there. Alternatively, you may have to fly out to Europe first before returning to Mauritania.
33. Mauritius
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
What a beautiful island in the Pacific. What a beautiful visa-on-arrival destination. What poor flight connections! Only South African Airways and offers a flight from Lagos to Port Louis with a short enough layover in Johannesburg. You can also fly Kenya Airways via Nairobi.
34. Morocco
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 4/6
Morocco is a bustling African destination and has no shortage of Nigerian visitors. Most people cite Morocco as one of their top dream destinations on the continent. So, it is no surprise that Royal Air Maroc runs direct flights daily from Lagos to Casablanca. Of course, there is also the option of Turkish Airlines with a stop in Istanbul. However, Nigerians will need to apply in person at the embassy in Abuja or apply through an agent for a no-sight application. This means that depending on whether you want to shell out the cost of going through an agent or not, Morocco could be an easy country to visit or a slightly difficult one. What’s certain is that you will be blown away riding camels in the desert and exploring markets in Marrakesh.
35. Mozambique
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Now, all visitors (including Nigerians) who want to enter Mozambique can get their visas on arrival. That simplifies the process of wanting to explore the amazing wildlife of this Portuguese influenced Southern African country. To get to Maputo quickly from Lagos, you almost always have to fly South African Airways, making one stop in Johannesburg. However, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines offer flights with much longer layovers in Nairobi and Addis Ababa.
36. Namibia
RED (DIFFICULT) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 2/6
It is a dream to visit the country where the desert meets the ocean. Namibia is its own fascinating world. Nigerians require a visa to explore this country and must do so in person at the high commission in Abuja. The best airline to fly from Lagos to Windhoek is South African Airways (via Johannesburg). The other African airlines will take you there, but with at least two stops.
37. Niger
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
Even though Nigeria shares a border with Niger, there are very poor flight connections to get to Niamey. Thankfully, Asky Airlines flies from Lagos to Niamey with a short layover in Lome. If you are ready to rigmarole, you can fly from Lagos to Niamey on Air Cote D’Ivoire, making a stop in faraway Abidjan, spending almost 19 hours in transit, then flying back to Niamey. Nigerians who live in the North of Nigeria may be able to easily access Niger by road. This is also one of the countries that are visa-free for Nigerians.
38. Rwanda
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 5/6
Remarkable Rwanda is an example of how a country can take control of its future and design policies that will increase traffic footfall. Nigerians can obtain a visa at the point of arrival. It is also an exceptionally well-connected country, thanks to RwandAir; the country’s affordable and disruptive national airline. Fly RwandAir daily from Lagos directly to Kigali or hop on a Kenya Airways flight (layover in Nairobi) or Ethiopian Airlines flight (layover in Addis Ababa).
39. Sao Tome and Principe
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (2/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 3/6
This is one of the island that everyone seems to want to visit, but no one seems to know how to get to. Well, this is for good reason as the only feasible way to visit this nearby island is to fly out to Accra and then fly back on TAP Air Portugal to Sao Tome. What a chore to visit a place that’s a few hundred miles from the Lagos shore. If it is any consolation, Sao Tome and Principe allows for e-visa applications.
40. Senegal
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
In Senegal, music, heritage, art and nature come together to form a unique French-African blend. To get to this must-see destination, Nigerians can hop on an Air Cote D’Ivoire flight from Lagos to Dakar, with a short stop on Abidjan. This country is visa-free since it is a member of ECOWAS, just like Nigeria.
41. Seychelles
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
This beautiful island has become increasingly popular with Nigerians, especially since Nigerians can obtain visa on arrival. While Seychelles is a Nigeria passport-friendly destination, the connections to the island are poor. There are affordable flights on Ethiopian Airlines to Mahe Island, however this comes with a long layover of almost 15 hours in Addis Ababa. South African Airways provides a shorter connection in Johannesburg of almost 9 hours but costs a lot more.
42. Sierra Leone
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Sierra Leone has some of the finest beaches along the West African coast and fascinating relics from the slave trade era. To get to Freetown, you can fly from Lagos on Asky, with a short layover in Lome. While Africa World Airlines offers a cheaper fare, the bargain sets you back with a 14-hour layover in Accra. Of course, Nigerians do not require a visa to enter Sierra Leone.
43. Somalia
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 4/6
Somalia offers visas on arrival at the airport. Isn’t that great! Despite the poor connections by air, that makes it easier to visit Somalia than it could have been. Unfortunately, the only viable way to fly from Lagos to Mogadishu is on Turkish Airlines with a full day layover in Istanbul. Hey, grab the opportunity to explore Istanbul while you wait to catch your onward flight.
44. South Africa
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 4/6
One of the most popular countries to visit in Africa is also one of the most easy to connect by air. South African Airways flies daily out of Lagos directly to Johannesburg. Other airlines serve that route with short connections in their home countries: Kenya Airways via Nairobi, RwandAir via Kigali and Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa. A visa is required for Nigerians and is notoriously not-so-easy to get so turn in your complete and correct application in good time through the VFS service.
45. South Sudan
RED (DIFFICULT) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 2/6
The great news is that most airlines fly to Juba, South Sudan. The unfortunate news is that apart from Kenya Airways which makes a short stop in Nairobi, most of the other options will cost you a long layover in Kigali (RwandAir) and Addis Ababa (Ethiopian Airlines). So, even though there are many flight connections, they are not the most time efficient.
46. Sudan
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
Getting a visa to Sudan could be a hassle. You will need to send in an application to the embassy. Thinking of visiting Sudan? The best flight options are: EgyptAir (via Cairo), Kenya Airways (via Nairobi) and Ethiopian Airlines (via Addis Ababa). Turkish Airlines is an affordable option but will set you back with a layover of almost 15 hours in Istanbul.
47. Swaziland (now eSwatini)
RED (DIFFICULT) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (1/3) = 2/6
Famed for the last true monarchy existing in Africa and a wildlife scene that is thriving, Swaziland is another often forgotten country. Getting a visa as a Nigerian could be a hassle as there is no embassy of Swaziland in Nigeria. Visa applications can be made at the British Embassy or High Commission. South African Airways offers flights to Seolak Airport in Swaziland, with a short layover in Johannesburg. Unfortunately, this is the only viable way to fly to Swaziland on one ticket.
48. Tanzania
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 5/6
Tanzania is the home of Mount Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park, magnificent Zanzibar, Arusha and so much more. How awesome is it that this country offers visas on arrival? What’s more? You can fly on Kenya Airways (via Nairobi) to Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro and many other TZ cities. RwandAir and Ethiopian Airlines also have great connections to Tanzania.
49. Togo
GREEN (EASY) – Visa Score (3/3), Transportation Score (3/3) = 6/6
Our almost neighbor is often passed over in favor of Benin Republic or Ghana. Of course, Nigerians can visit Togo visa-free to explore the fusion of traditional and French histories. There are direct flights on Asky Airlines from Lagos to Lome. You may also want to take a drive along the west coast of Africa, passing through Benin Republic.
50. Tunisia
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (1/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 3/6
As with many North African countries, Nigerians require a visa to Tunisia and must do so at the embassy in Abuja. To explore the art scene of this Mediterranean country, hop on a Turkish Airlines plane with a short layover in Istanbul or an Air France flight with a short layover in Paris. Ready to spend a much longer time in transit? EgyptAir (via Cairo) and Qatar Airways (via Doha) both offer connections to Tunis.
51. Uganda

Oh, Uganda – the Pearl of Africa. Among East African nations, Uganda is the most underrated. This is hands-down the adrenaline capital of the East and easily accessible thanks to the country’s visa-on-arrival policy. In fact, in addition to its single Ugandan visa-on-arrival, Uganda shares an East African visa with Kenya and Rwanda making it easier to visit all three countries if you opt for the shared visa. Kenya Airways (via Nairobi) is your best bet to fly to Uganda from Nigeria as the layover is short. RwandAir and Ethiopian Airlines are also viable options, even though the layovers in Kigali and Addis Ababa respectively are rather long.
52. Zambia

Zambia has joined the ranks of countries with an e-visa application platform. This simplifies the process and makes it accessible to a lot more people. Kenya Airways and South African Airways offer the best connections from Lagos, with short layovers in Nairobi and Johannesburg respectively. With much longer connections, RwandAir and Ethiopians Airlines are also viable options with stops in Kigali and Addis Ababa respectively.
53. Zimbabwe
ORANGE (MEDIUM DIFFICULTY) – Visa Score (2/3), Transportation Score (2/3) = 4/6
Many people want to visit the land of Africa’s magical wonder – Victoria Falls. However, getting to Zimbabwe could be easier. Currently, Nigeria is on the list of countries that require a visa approval letter in order to pay for a visa upon arrival. It should be no hassle getting this letter using the online application portal. However, this could take days or weeks. Getting to Zimbabwe is only slightly easier – South African Airways operates flights from Lagos to a variety of Zimbabwean cities, with a layover in Johannesburg. Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways also operate more indirect connections to Victoria Falls.
