Honda Manufacturing (Nigeria) Ltd., Honda’s subsidiary in Nigeria for the manufacture of motorcycles and sales of Honda products, has launched the all-new Ace110 motorcycle in the domestic market.

The Ace110 retains the image of its larger sibling, the Ace125 which is popular with business users, yet through maintaining quality while reducing production costs, will be available at a price of 220,000 Nigerian Naira (US$600). Honda aims to sell 80,000 units in the first year and 110,000 units the following year.

The Ace110 is equipped with the same engine as the CG110 (pictured above), a 110cc engine with proven durability and fuel efficiency. The Ace110’s fuel tank is 45 percent larger than the CG110, enabling a longer travel distance. Other product highlights include a more comfortable seat and highly durable front and rear suspension.

The Nigerian motorcycle market was approximately 1 million units in 2015, but due to foreign currency procurements, fell to approximately 500,000 units in 2017. Honda believes the Nigerian economy will recover in 2018 due to improved foreign currency liquidity, and plans to sell 100,000 units next year.

The launch ceremony which was graced with the presence of the Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Mr. Jelani Aliyu, also had in attendance top Honda management personnel like the Managing Director, Honda Manufacturing Nigeria Ltd – Katsuhiro Murooka; Chief Operating Officer, Global Motorcycle Operations – Noriake Abe; Operating Officer, Head of Regional Unit – Yusuke Hori; Chief Engineer, Atsuhio Takahashi; Executive Director, Kaoru Yamamoto; Asst. Manager Sales Division, Nagayuki Takeuchi as well as Sales Manager, Olabade Badejo, Senior Manager, Customer Service Emmanuel Hunyingan and Factory Manager, Oyediji Ogunmola.
