Kelechi Iheanacho becomes the most valuable Nigerian footballer

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho will become the most valuable player the county can boast of following his almost completed GBP25 million move to Leicester City from Manchester City.

The 20-year old is set to join the foxes with hopes of first team start he could not tie down under Pep Guardiola at city.

Kelechi iheanacho will also displace Odion Ighalo when he signed for Chinese club Changchun Yatai for GBP20 million in January. The move also the makes him the second highest African transfer fee this season behind Mohamed Salah’s EUR40 million move from AS Roma to Liverpool.

In terms of market value, German website Transfermarkt says Kelechi Iheanacho is currently valued at EUR15 million. However, once he finally join the foxes, he would be followed by Chelsea winger who has recently been drafted to a defensive role, Victor Moses with market value of about EUR18 million.

26-year old Ahmed Musa who also plies his trade in the English Premier League for the foxes (Leicester) is currently valued at around EUR17 million, followed by Wilfred Ndidi of the same club with a value of EUR14 million.

Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi is next valued at EUR10 million, while Odion Jude Ighalo seems to have dropped in market value since his move to China, he is currently valued at GBP7 million.

Henry Onyekuru who recently joined Everton FC from KAS Eupen of Belgium (currently on loan to Anderlecht) is valued at EUR7 million. The 20-year old was the toast of many other English clubs but opted to join Everton.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles Captain, John Obi Mikel is valued at EUR6 million and currently plays for Tianjin Teda, also in the Chinese Super League.
