Peter Enahoro in 1965 said “Nigeria is an oasis of plenty in a desert of wants”. As we slowly crawl out of a recession, there is evidence to show that Nigeria is afflicted by general poverty but abject poverty in the North East.
Little wonder that insurgency is concentrated in that area. Nigerian politicians seem obsessed with the lexicon “restructuring” but do not know that you cannot restructure poverty.
