Ondo, Imo & Enugu Are States With The Highest Okada Fare Per Drop In September 2018 – NBS

The Transport fare watch report for September 2018 covers the following categories namely bus journey within the city per drop constant route; bus journey intercity, state route, charge per person; airfare charge for the specified routes single journey; journey by motorcycle (Okada) per drop; and waterway passenger transport. 

According to the report, the average fare paid by commuters for bus journey within the city decreased by -0.66% month-on-month and increased by 42.25% year-on-year to N185.47 in September 2018 from N186.69 in August 2018. States with highest bus journey fare within the city were Abuja FCT (N385.00), Cross River (N300.00) and Abia (N280.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within the city were Rivers (N125.00), Anambra (N100.90) and Bauchi (N110.00).

Average fare paid by commuters for bus journey intercity decreased by -0.03% month-on-month and increased by 19.32% year-on-year to N1,813.77 in September 2018 from  N1,814.39 in August 2018. States with highest bus journey fare intercity were Abuja FCT (N4,500.00), Adamawa (N3,430.00) and Borno (N2,790.00) while States with lowest bus journey fare within the city were Jigawa(N1,230.00), Anambra & Zamfara (N1,200.) and Bauchi & Enugu (N1,150.00).

Average fare paid by air passengers for specified routes single journey increased by 0.15% month-on-month and decreased by -0.02% year-on-year to N32,378.92 in September 2018 from N32,330.41 in August 2018.  States with the highest airfare were Lagos (N41,500.00), Edo (N39,950.00) and Abuja FCT (N39,800.00) while States with the lowest airfare were Oyo (N23,500.00), Osun & Katsina (N25,000.00), and Kogi (N25,800.00).

Average fare paid by commuters for the journey by motorcycle per drop decreased by -1.30% month-on-month and 18.98% year-on-year to N119.04  in September 2018 from N120.62 in August 2018. States with highest journey fare by motorcycle per drop were Ondo (N200.00), Imo (N190.00) and Enugu (N185.00) while states with lowest journey fare by motorcycle per drop were Adamawa (N68.00) Jigawa (N70.00) and Kebbi & Abuja (N75.00).

Average fare paid by passengers for waterway passenger transport increased by 0.21% month-on-month and decreased by -1.52% year-on-year to N595.51 in September 2018 from N594.26 in August 2018. States with the highest fare by waterway passenger transport were Bayelsa (N2,150.00), Rivers (N2,100.00) and Delta (N1,555.00) while states with the lowest fare by waterway passenger transport were Borno (N140.00), Gombe (N200.00) and Kebbi & Abuja FCT (N250.00).
