The Pitcher Advertiser of the Year Award honours clients who have distinguished themselves for inspiring innovative marketing of their products and who embrace and encourage the creative work produced by their agency or agencies. The organisers of the Pitcher Awards are proud to present this honour to Airtel Nigeria. In the past year, Airtel’s bold attempts to create fresh and inspiring campaigns have been commended locally and internationally. From winning Grand Prix in LAIF to Epica Gold, Emerald at African Cristal and strong reviews by AdWeek, Lürzer’s Archive and Ads of the World.

“Our goal is to promote creativity in our region and the feedback we get from agencies is that there is an urgent need to get clients to buy into this. So, in the first year of Pitcher Advertiser of the Year Award, our metrics have been based on decisions taken by others we respect and the opinion of our partners such as the publication of their ads in Lürzer’s Archive. In subsequent years, the decision will be based largely on the brand’s performance in the Pitcher Awards,” comments Nnamdi Ndu, Cannes Lions Festival Representative in Nigeria and Managing Director CHINI Productions, organisers of the Pitcher Awards part of the Creativity Week programmes.

The Pitcher Advertiser of the Year Award will be presented to a representative of the management of Airtel Nigeria at the Pitcher Awards Night and Gala on Saturday 24 March 2018 at the MUSON Centre.

The Pitcher Awards will recognise the best works in the region in the Heritage, Channel and Innovation categories. The Young Professionals categories will include the Young Lions Competitions winners and the Young Pitcher Award. The student categories will include winner for Cannes Lions Roger Hatchuel Academy prize, the Dubai Lynx Academy prize, cash award to Best Teacher of the Year and the Best School Award. Also, the winners of the Miami Ad School Scholarship Competition will be announced at the Pitcher Awards Night and Gala.

Entries for the Pitcher Awards have been extended to 9 March 2018. The entries will be exhibited from 22 – 24 March 2018 at the Creativity Week Expo at the MUSON Centre Lagos. The winning entries will be showcased as part of the presentation titled “Taking African Creativity to the World Stage” to be made by Nnamdi Ndu, Managing Director CHINI Productions at the Shanghai International Advertising Festival on 28 March 2018. The winning materials will be reviewed in a blog post on the Lürzer’s Archive website and published in the international (and Cannes Lions) edition of Lürzer’s Archive magazine volume 3 of 2018. The winning materials will also be compiled as a special publication to be distributed to the attendees of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity from 18 – 22 June 2018.

Airtel Nigeria gave “a big thank you to CHINI Productions” organisers of the Pitcher Awards for the industry recognition and is gearing up to make a 5-minute presentation at the Pitcher Awards Night to showcase the body of creative work over the years that has endeared them to consumers in Nigeria.
