Seasamum Seeds, now number 1 Agric Exports from Nigeria (2017 Q1)

Seasamum Seeds rose to the top of Nigeria’s Agricultural exports for the first quarter of 2017 according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics. According to the data, Sesamum Seeds exports was valued at N13 billion in the first quarter of the year. According to the data, Nigeria main exports destination for Sesamum are Turkey, China, India ,Japan and Vietnam.

Soya beans exports was the second most exported produce in Nigeria with about N4.9 billion. Frozen Shrimps which topped the table when we last published this in the third quarter of 2016 was valued at N3.39 billion. Main export countries for Soya Beans are Russia, Greece, Nepal, Vietnam and the United Kingdom

Frozen shrimps make up the 3rd most exported item in Nigeria with about N3.3 billion in export value for the first 3 months of the year. Netherlands, Belgium, United States, Taiwan and Vietnam topped chart as the top export destination.

Cashew Nut was the third most exported Agricultural exports with a value of N2.4 billion for the first quarter of the year. Top export destinations are Vietnam, India, China and Malaysia.

Crude Palm Kernel Oil which used to be one of Nigeria’s top exports came in 5th at a value of N1.3 billion. Top destinations were Netherlands and Greece.
