In celebration of its 4th year anniversary and demonstration of its commitment to positive customer experience, Ikeja Electric sets to reward its customers in its “Energy4Life” reward scheme commencing Nov 1st.

24 customers will win 4,000 worth of energy monthly for up to 4 years…

Customers will get rewarded every time bill payment/energy units are purchased using the *565* USSD short code. Kick off date is 1st of November. This was shared on its official twitter account:

In a statement by the management, Ikeja Electric said, “This November is going to be a month of rewards around here. Use the *565* USSD to take part and look out for many more rewards.

The *565* USSD short code solution offers you the greatest convenience as you can, in the comfort of your homes and offices, pay bills or vend energy tokens irrespective of the type of phones.”

The Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)  solution enables people to perform financial transactions on all known mobile phones (Feature, Smartlite or Smart), without having to go on the net or download a mobile app.

USSD is a Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication technology used to send texts between a mobile phone and an application program in the owner network and the adoption of this technology allows people to do a lot of banking transactions even on the most basic of mobile phones.

The USSD payment solution complements the IKEDC’s existing payment options, already well accepted among its discerning customers.

Speaking on the promo, the management said the reward promo further underlines the Ikeja Electric’s commitment to continuously deliver excellent services as well as create or support innovative platforms that enable customers to enjoy more positive experience.

HOW *565# WORKS

2 Major things to consider before attempting transactions on the service
  • Ensure and confirm that BVN is tied to the phone number being used (if unsure, dial *565*0#); if BVN is displayed, go ahead with transactions. If otherwise, the payer will be required to engage his/her Bank to update the BVN record with the phone number.
  • Confirm that the same number is tied to the customer’s account at the bank (the customer can know this by confirming if the same number is used to receive SMS alerts from the bank). If otherwise, the payer will be required to engage his/her Bank to update Bank record with the phone number.
