Equity Market sheds 0.38%, resumes the week on a bearish note

The equity market on Tuesday closed the week shedding 0.38% reversing previous gain posted on Friday last week. Similarly, market breadth closed negative, recording 18 gainers against 22 losers. 

 

In summary, the All Share Index (ASI) shed 133.89 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.38% to close at 35,306.09 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization shed N45.69 billionrepresenting a decline of 0.38% to close at N12.17 trillion.
The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks, amongst which are; PZ (-4.98%), FO (-3.61%), NB (-1.82%), ETI (-1.71%), DANGCEM (-1.40%),ACCESS (-0.83%), OANDO (-0.51%) and NESTLE (-0.42%).

Foreign Exchange
The Naira at the inter-bank (official) market appreciated marginally to at N305.70 against the US Dollar. The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N359.79, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.07. A total of $304.07 million was transacted in I&E window.  
We expect the FX market to trade within existing range  next session.
Money Market
The OBB and O/N closed lower at 10.92% and 11.58% respectively against the closing position of 13.67% and 14.33% posted on Friday, last week.
