Trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) sustained bearish sentiment to five consecutive trading sessions, following price depreciation on Seplat, Dangcem and 14 others. Consequently, the market breadth closed positively with 17 gainers as against 16 losers.
In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 121.04 absolute points, representing a decline of 0.45% to close at 26,866.41 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N58.93 billion representing a dip of 0.45%, to close at N13.08 trillion.
COURTVILLE emerged the top gainer while CORNERST emerged as top loser.
The downtrend was impacted by losses recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; SEPLAT (-6.85%), OANDO (-2.70%), STANBIC (-2.50%), NESTLE (-2.03%), UBA (-1.63%), WAPCO (-1.54%), ACCESS (-1.39%), TRANSCORP (-0.99%), DANGSUGAR (-0.47%), and DANGCEM (-0.07%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE
The Naira remained flat to close at N307.00/$1, as against Friday’s position.
The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N362.27, traded high at N364.00 and eventually closed at N362.37 representing 0.11% appreciation as against last Friday’s position. A total of $315.64 million was transacted through the I&E window today.
MONEY MARKET
Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 4.79%, representing a 1.36% appreciation against last Friday’s position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 4.00%, representing a 1.29% appreciation against last Friday’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET
After three consecutive days of unchanged sentiment, the NASD OTC market closed negatively, as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) shed 0.24% to close at 697.97 points. Similarly, the Market Capitalization lost N1.19 billion to close at N501.45 billion as against last Friday’s position. However, the aggregate volume and value grew by 14,494.29% and 76,415.52% respectively, as investors traded a total of 102,306 units of shares valued at N19.09 million in 13 deals.
