Cambodia is set to launch 5G mobile services starting January 1, 2026, according to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. Three major mobile operators—Cellcard (CamGSM), Metfone (Viettel Cambodia), and Smart (Smart Axiata)—have constructed telecommunications antenna stations and installed 5G network equipment at these sites.
As part of the New Year celebrations, customers of these three mobile operators will be able to access 5G services from 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2026.
In the initial phase, 5G services will be available in the capital, Phnom Penh, and key areas in Siem Reap, Kandal, Svay Rieng, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Prey Veng, Kratie, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Preah Sihanouk, Stung Treng, and Kampot.
Subsequent phases will see the expansion of 5G services to other provinces across the Southeast Asian nation.
The introduction of 5G services is expected to significantly boost digital transformation in both the economy and society, offering key benefits such as faster internet speeds compared to 4G, the ability to connect multiple devices simultaneously, low latency, and enhanced efficiency in delivering digital public services.

5G services are not merely about high-speed internet; they represent a digital infrastructure crucial for Cambodia’s digital future, fostering innovation and creating new opportunities.
According to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Cambodia has approximately 19.6 million internet subscribers and around 20.6 million mobile phone users. The number of internet subscribers and mobile phone users exceeds the country’s total population of 17 million because some individuals subscribe to multiple internet or telephone services.
