The equity market rallied today by 1.74%, equivalent to N221bn in market capitalization, majorly as a result of price appreciation in MTNN and DANGCEM amongst other stocks. Market breadth closed positive, recording 15 gainers and 14 losers.

The All Share Index (ASI) gained 501.47 absolute points, representing a growth of 1.74% to close at 29,373.40 points. Similarly, Market Capitalization grew by N220.87 billion, representing an increase of 1.74% to close at N12.94 trillion.

MCNICHOLS emerged the top gainer while FO emerged as top loser.

The uptrend was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; MTNN (+10.00%), FCMB (+7.10%), GUINNESS (+2.96%), WEMABANK (+1.61%), DANGFLOUR (+1.24%), DANGCEM (+1.14%),  and ZENITHBANK (+0.26%).

The Naira exchange rate at the official window closed at N306.90/$1, representing a 0.02%  against last Friday’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N360.07, traded high at N361.50 and eventually closed at N360.72 representing a 0.06% depreciation as against last Friday’s closing position. A total of $212.58 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 5.71%, representing a 0.43% appreciation against last Friday’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 5.00%, representing a 0.43%appreciation against last Friday’s closing position.

NASD OTC MARKET         

The NASD market sustained negative sentiment as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) declined by 0.21% to close at 758.79 points against last Friday’s index. Similarly, Market Capitalization declined by N1.13 billion to close at N545.14 billion. Market activities measured by aggregate volume dipped by 25.28%, while the aggregate value grew by 72.76%  Investors traded a total of 110,400 units of shares valued at N13.08 million in 6 deals.

Five securities were traded on the OTC Platform today, which are SDAFRILAND, SDCSCSPLC, SDFOODCPT, SDNDEP and SDNIPCOPLC
