Until recently, you couldn’t just plug a USB drive into an iPad or an iPhone and over the years, I have gotten used to a rigorous process of either transferring files from my Apple devices to PC either via iTunes or a cloud service. So you could imagine my excitement when I read about the iXpand Flash Drive from SanDisk.
An extremely portable memory flash drive for the iPhone, iPad, and computer. It can be used to free up space on your devices, and automatically back up your precious photo, video and file collections. For someone that always runs out of space on my iPhone, I was quite excited!
Although I have the 128GB version, the iXpand Flash drive is also available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 256GB. The basic instructions said to plug the iXpand Flash Drive into your device, and when prompted, download the iXpand Drive App from the Apple App Store. I was skeptical, surely it couldn’t be that easy. Permit me to say, I was entirely wrong.
The iXpand Drive App was a quick download and ran instantly after. I was guided through a refreshingly brief and simple setup process. My iPhone recognized the flash drive immediately and led me through the transfer process.
Once the iXpand Drive App opens, you are faced with three options. Copy Files, View Files, Backup and Restore.
It comes with the following features:
- Can be set to automatically back up your photos every time you connect
- Watch movies/media on the go as it supports popular video formats (.MP4, .MOV) so you can store and watch videos straight from the drive3, making it a terrific travel companion
- Designed with a flexible connector to plug directly into your iPhone or iPad without having to remove your case
- USB 3 High-Speed Transfers
Using this SanDisk device is the most convenient method I have ever used to transfer files to and from an iPad.
The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive is a highly useful device; straightforward, and intuitive to use and can be gotten at all Western Digital approved retailers. Depending on the capacity, price ranges from N18,000-N35,000.
More on these can be found on the SanDisk website.
