Children's Day: Polaris Bank Urges Parents To Teach Their Kid's Savings Culture

Rasheed Bolarinwa, Polaris Bank’s Head of Corporate Communications, was elected President of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB) at the Association’s annual general meeting in Lagos.

According to a statement issued by the Association’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abdul Imoyo,

“The Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB) – an umbrella organization of communications and marketing professionals working in Nigeria’s banking sector – has elected new executives who will steer the Association’s affairs for the next two years.”

“After a well-attended AGM/election for key positions, Mr. Rasheed Bolarinwa, Head, Corporate Communications of Polaris Bank, was elected as the new ACAMB President.”

Mr. Oze K. Oze of First Bank was elected First Vice President; Mrs. Lola Egboh of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) was elected Second Vice President; and Mr. Sipe Babajide of Ecobank was appointed Secretary-General.

Mr. Omede Odekina of United Bank for Africa (UBA) was named Assistant Secretary General, and Mr. Patrick Osilaja of Fidelity Bank was named Financial Secretary.

Mrs. Funmilayo Falola of Wema Bank has been appointed Treasurer, and Mr. Abdul Imoyo of Access Bank has been appointed Publicity Secretary. Mrs. Ozena Utulu of Heritage Bank is also on the new executive team as Social Secretary.

Four distinguished members of the Association will serve as Ex-officio members: the immediate past President, a staff member from CBN, NDIC, and CIBN, respectively.

The new officers were elected on Wednesday, January 19, at the Bankers’ House, CIBN Building, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Bolarinwa, the new ACAMB President, assured members in his post-election acceptance speech that he would reposition ACAMB as a premier professional organization that they could all be proud of.

He also stated that his vision includes developing an innovative post-retirement strategy to ensure that members have a sustainable income long after leaving the industry.

“I will be committed to my vision of repositioning ACAMB as a foremost professional Association that encourages and ensures every marketing communications professional in the Banks aspires and attains the highest level of professional recognition and fulfillment on the job while also being assured of a sustainable livelihood long after exiting the industry,” he said.

Bolarinwa, a two-term Secretary General in the previous executive, reaffirmed his commitment to member upliftment in line with his electioneering promises anchored on the four-pillar themed PEAL: Partnership & Platform, Engagement, Advocacy, and Learning & Value-addition (PEAL).

The new President also stated that, under his leadership, ACAMB would seek partnerships and platforms among strategic institutions and stakeholders in order to provide value to members while also enhancing professionalism.

He also stated that his team would engage in advocacy to raise awareness and understanding of the banking industry and its contributions to national socioeconomic growth.

Earlier, Mr. Segun Shonubi, Chairman of the ACAMB Electoral Committee, stated that all aspirants for the advertised position had met the minimum requirements outlined in the Association Constitution and thus qualified to run in the election.

Bolarinwa, a 1996 Mass Communication graduate, also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Ibadan and an MSc degree from the University of Lagos’ UNESCO-certified Mass Communication department. He belongs to a number of professional organizations. Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Registered Practitioner of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), and Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations are among them (NIPR).

He has also participated in a number of high-impact function-specific and leadership trainings at top business schools in Nigeria and around the world.
