Oxlade SexTape Leaked

In response to a leaked sex tape with a woman on social media platform, Snapchat, Justice Olalekan Oresanya of an Ikeja High Court has fined singer, Ikuforiji Olaitan, popularly known as Oxlade N5 million in damages.

In a judgment judgement dated January 24, 2023, Justice Oresanya called the singer’s behavior, in secretly filming explicit sex with a woman and then posting it online “despicable, horrendous, distasteful and classless.”

Recall Oxlade’s sex tape leaked online in February 2022, without the consent of the woman featured in the video.

The woman, John Blessing, had filed a lawsuit before the court on March 15, 2022, requesting N20 million for damages and a declaration that the respondent (Oxlade’s) act of filming his explicit sexual acts without her knowledge or consent amounted to a blatant violation of consent or permission and a gross violation of her fundamental rights to dignity, privacy, and freedom from discrimination protected under Sections 34 and 37 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended); and Articles 5 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement), Act, CAP A9, LFN, 2004.

The judge had set the matter for judgment when the parties decided to settle their dispute amicably through a consent judgment after hearing from the claimant’s attorneys, E. T. Idemudia and O. S. Mabekoje, and U. R. Michael representing the respondent.
