The official results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have been made public by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

The statement about the end of this year’s school candidate screening procedure was made on Monday, August 12, 2024, on X.

The council stated that: “The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform Candidates who sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 12, 2024. To access the result, log on to https://waecdirect.org”

This publication comes after the grading procedure was finished, involving the evaluation of thousands of pupils in several subjects throughout West Africa. According to WAEC, every precaution was taken to guarantee the integrity and correctness of the results.

It is important to note that the 2024 WASSCE, which took place across seven weeks from April 30 to June 24, saw the coordination of examiners and the scripts being marked from July 10 to July 29 at 86 typical marking places.

According to report reached by BrandSpur national news desk, of the 1,805,216 candidates that took part in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), 1,332,089 obtained credits in five subjects, including either mathematics or English language, according to Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) Nigeria Office. Moreover, a total of 1,301,949 applicants, or 72.9% of the examinees, received credits in five courses that comprised both English language and mathematics.

According to Dr. Dangut, this year’s performance represents a 7.6% decrease from last year. He mentioned that claims of exam fraud had resulted in the results of 215,267 candidates—or 11.92% of the total—being withheld. These suppressed findings highlight the continuous difficulties WAEC faces in maintaining the accuracy of its examination procedures.

Dr. Dangut listed a number of difficulties that arose during the exam, such as security issues, failure to comply with registration deadlines, inflation-related financial difficulties, and the actions of dishonest website operators who occasionally worked with exam supervisors.

As a result of WAEC’s dedication to upholding strict standards, severe measures have been put in place to rectify these problems, demonstrating the Council’s will to preserve the validity of its tests.
