
Sterling Bank’s customers, a bank in Nigeria, have not stopped criticising the institution over its inability to process online transactions due to a system failure.
Customers have been complaining about their inability to complete transactions, which have apparently been hanging for the last five days, generating chaos and discomfort for people who depend on the bank’s services, as a result of this terrifying experience.
Customers have been voicing their annoyance and begging the bank to fix the problem on social media.
“Since Friday! @cenbank pls, come to our rescue. I’m stranded! I’m hungry! I can’t do any transactions on the app. The money sent to me is yet to reflect on the account. I can’t do anything,” penned a client on social media.
Continuing, several clients made threats to terminate their accounts, stating: “I’m blocking all my accounts with you immediately network is restored, seamless banking my foot, adding to Nigerians problems in this hardship.”
Kasim, a mechanical engineer working out of Magboro, Ogun State, bemoaned the fact that he was unable to access a substantial sum of money that one of his clients had transferred to his Sterling Bank account.
He expressed his pain, saying: “I’m very sad at the moment, Sterling Bank wants to ruin my business. I’m supposed to buy some vehicle parts with the money but it did not reflect in my account 24 hours after being transferred. It’s so pathetic.”
BrandSpur banking and finance news report that About seven hours ago, Olayinka Osifodurin-Ogundimu, who appeared irritated by the system malfunction, criticized Sterling Bank on her Facebook page.
She had this to say: “Sterling Bank! Sterling Bank!! Sterling Bank!!!.” Her friends’ relations were drawn to her post.
Renowned journalist Mr. Mayor Akinpelu was the first to respond; he merely wrote: “Useless Bank.”
“Sterling Bank shows me pepper, it’s not funny at all,” stated Ibukun Elizabeth, another friend.
“l dey goes there tomorrow with Otumokpo,” stated Ms. Morenike Omodutayo.
Adding, Seyi Odewale penned: “My own pass shege banza. I’ve been shit on. Can somebody help with this Sterling wahala?”
“Dem just falls people hand since on Monday,” stated Uduak Cletus, expressing his displeasure.
Furthering, Mr. Remi Adelowo, a highly regarded journalist in Nigeria, expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure of the Sterling Bank system on his Facebook page. He composed: “Upon all this stress, Sterling Bank is showing its customers shege promax. Services practically shut down since Monday on the excuse of an upgrade of its system. A sad story for a once reliable bank.”
Meanwhile, we learnt that a few patrons have threatened to close the bank’s Iyana-Itire Branch if they aren’t given access to their money within the next day.
In response to the uproar, Sterling Bank expressed regret for the trouble and gave an explanation of the system upgrade they were undertaking to enhance their offerings and give customers a seamless banking experience. Although the bank reassures clients that this is an essential step, many are left doubting the bank’s readiness and system management skills due to the extended outage.
Customers are stuck and unable to access their money or complete transactions as long as this scenario persists. Few people are more at ease about the bank’s response, and many are left wondering when the problems will be fixed.
