Bharti Airtel Releases New AI-powered Solution To Tackle Reported Spams

The second-largest telecom provider in India, Bharti Airtel, has unveiled a new AI-powered solution meant to address the growing problem of spam calls and messages. This state-of-the-art technology was created to improve client safety by instantly recognising and reporting suspected spam—the first of its kind in India.

Airtel’s 387 million members instantly get access to the service at no additional cost, guaranteeing broad availability without requiring users to take any further action. Unsolicited communication has long been a problem in India and many other areas of the world, with many users receiving numerous unsolicited calls and messages every day.

According to a LocalCircles survey, 95% of Indians say they get these calls daily, and most of them experience three or more disruptions. Governmental efforts such as the “Do Not Disturb” registry have not been very successful; 90% of registrants continue to get spam.

Bharti Airtel’s Managing Director, Gopal Vittal, said that the business has been working hard over the past year to come up with a reliable solution. Vittal described spam as an ongoing annoyance and pointed out that the AI-powered solution offers a two-tier defence by screening calls and texts at both the network and IT infrastructure levels.

Continuing with this strategy, the platform can manage massive amounts of communication, handling 1.5 billion emails and 2.5 billion calls daily. This system’s artificial intelligence technology employs a proprietary algorithm to evaluate multiple factors, such as call duration and frequency, as well as usage habits, and identify possible spam in real-time.

According to Airtel, the AI system recognises three million spam texts and almost 100 million suspected spam calls per day. It also checks SMS messages for links that can be harmful, shielding users from unintentionally falling victim to phishing or fraud.
Additionally, the AI keeps an eye out for anomalous behavior that could point to suspicious activity, such as regular changes in a device’s IMEI number.

With telephone scams always changing and con artists posing as service providers and government authorities, Airtel’s program attempts to significantly lessen the risks that its users must deal with, BrandSpur telecom and IT news reports.

In addition to offering a strong line of defence against dishonest actors in the digital space, the AI-powered spam detection system will lessen the irritation of persistent spam.
