
To assist the Association of Nigerian Women in Business Network (ANWBN) in equipping female entrepreneurs with the know-how needed to prosper in the current digital economy, Unity Bank Plc organised a capacity-building workshop.
The workshop’s theme, “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: AI and Digital Marketing Strategies,” was inspired by the rapidly advancing state of technology and its effects on business. The goal of the theme was to provide women with hands-on experience in utilising and capitalising on emerging technologies.
As a venue that attracted companies from all industries, it gave visitors tools for utilising digital platforms to reach a wider audience, improve operational efficiency, engage clients, and raise brand awareness. Prominent industry experts and speakers, including Mrs. Adenike Abimbola, Divisional Head of Retail and SME Banking, Unity Bank Plc, Nkechinyere Ojiego, General Manager of Simba Group, and Dr. Opeyemi Ojesina, Chief Executive Officer of Jesshill Consulting, led impactful sessions.
Speaking to the media following the event, Mrs. Adenike Abimbola stated that the drive to increase capacity was motivated by the need to enable women entrepreneurs to capitalise on the increasing opportunities brought about by the changing landscape of digital marketing.
Continuing, she had this to say: “The growing digital landscape presents a unique opportunity for women to scale their businesses. There are over 70% of women entrepreneurs in Nigeria who desire this kind of capacity-building programme to improve their businesses, helping them learn how to transition from traditional business methods to one powered by technology, as this will become a differentiator.”

Mrs. Ambimbola reaffirmed Unity Bank’s commitment to assisting SMEs while praising the partnership with ANWBN and highlighting the significance of digital technologies. She also stated that the Bank will frequently give priority attention to female-led ventures to strengthen ties and collaborate with women-owned businesses in Nigeria.

A fashion designer named Mrs. Yetunde Adeniran, who was present at the event, talked about her learning experience and how she was able to incorporate digital technology into more aspects of her business after discovering new insights from the session. She also discussed the benefits of Unity Bank’s Yanga Account, highlighting it as an essential tool for small business owners that offers customised financial support.
In 2022, Unity Bank launched the Yanga Account to encourage financial inclusion for Women. The workshop’s success highlights Unity Bank’s continued dedication to helping Nigerian women entrepreneurs.
