A successful driver-led safety conference with the theme “Driving the Wheels of Safety – Securing the Future of Ride-hailing” was held in Calabar on Tuesday, October 29 by Bolt, a prominent ride-hailing platform.
To debate and work together on improving safety measures within the ride-hailing business, the event brought together Bolt representatives, safety experts, important government authorities who enforce law enforcement, and driver partners. Several interactive seminars, panel discussions, and workshops centred on safety protocols, learning about drivers’ experiences behind the wheel, and well-being were all part of the summit.
The workshops accessed by BrandSpur national news stories, also covered road safety best practices, upcoming technology targeted at enhancing safety, and the difficulties faced by drivers and law enforcement in maintaining road safety. They also featured a thorough examination of Bolt’s in-app safety features. Bolt reaffirmed its dedication to working with all pertinent ecosystem players to guarantee and maintain safety standards for the ride-hailing industry’s advantages.
Bolt Nigeria’s General Manager, Osi Oguah, stated: “Our driver-partners are at the heart of our operations, and their safety is paramount. This summit empowers them to be active participants in shaping safety initiatives and ensuring a secure future for ride-hailing in Calabar and beyond.
“The safety of our platform is built on collaboration. It is a testament to the power of working hand-in-hand with our driver-partners and regulators to identify challenges, share best practices, and create a safer ride-hailing experience for everyone,” he added.
On behalf of his special assistant, JD Agba, Cross-River State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Ekpenyong Cobham stated: “I commend Bolt for taking this proactive step to engage with their drivers and prioritise safety in Calabar. This summit demonstrates their commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders to improve the ride-hailing experience in our state. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these discussions on the safety and security of both drivers and passengers.”
As safety is a shared duty, the Commissioner of Police, who was skilfully represented by ACP Adewalehinmi O. Joshua, underlined the significance of remaining vigilant and cognisant of circumstances that could compromise personal safety.
The police are dedicated to carrying out their responsibility to safeguard people and property, and they will collaborate with the community to maintain these standards.
Bolt is committed to making investments in community collaborations, driver education, and technology to uphold safety standards and foster a culture of safety throughout the ride-hailing industry.
