According to IDC’s most recent data, global tablet shipments hit 39.6 million devices in the third quarter of 2024, a 20.4% rise from the previous year.

With 12.6 million units shipped, Apple held a 31.7% market share and was the market leader. Due to lower customer demand, Apple’s market share decreased from 37.7% in the same quarter last year to just 1.4% growth in shipments. With 7.1 million units shipped, Samsung came in second with a 17.9% market share. Over the past year, the company’s shipments increased by 18.3%, mostly due to the success of its low-cost Galaxy Tab A9 series. Its market share did, however, somewhat decline from 18.2%.

Among the major companies, Amazon grew at the fastest rate, increasing by 111.3% year over year to reach 4.6 million units. Amazon’s market share increased from 6.6% to 11.6% as a result of this spike. This success was largely attributed to Prime Day incentives, which increased demand for Amazon’s tablet assortment.

Continuing, with 3.3 million shipments and a 44.1% growth rate, Huawei also reported impressive increases, raising its market share to 8.2%. Huawei’s reputation was strengthened in emerging nations with the company’s reasonably priced MatePad SE 11.

Brandspur digital news platform reports that Lenovo completed the top five with 3 million devices shipped, gaining a 7.6% market share and growing 14.7% annually. Although Lenovo’s sales increased, especially in China and Western Europe, the company’s market share decreased marginally from 8.0% the previous year.

9.1 million shipments from other tablet brands combined, which represents a 22.9% market share and a consistent demand for substitute devices. Tablet manufacturers can increase sales during the next holiday season by concentrating on the release of new models and holding promotional events to pique consumers’ attention.
