At the 2024 Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) HR Oscars in Abuja, AXA Mansard, the top insurance provider in Nigeria and a part of the AXA Group, took home three coveted awards.
The organization placed second overall in Nigeria for the 2024 HR Best Practice Award and received recognition for its Internal Communications Initiative, Employee Engagement, and Best HR Practice (Insurance Category). By creating value, optimizing human potential, standardizing, and regulating human resource management, the CIPM fosters excellence in people management.
The HR Oscars, according to the organization, are intended to honor accomplishments and highlight best practices. The change, project, program, or process improvement detailed in the submissions is evaluated for recognition based on the proven evidence of a beneficial business impact.
Rashidat Adebisi, AXA Mansard‘s Chief Client Officer, responded to the accolades by saying they highlight the company’s steadfast dedication to creating an exciting, innovative, and forward-thinking work environment for its employees.
She added that the business feels that a pleasant employee experience should be the first step in implementing its customer-first approach. Therefore, AXA purposefully designs its HR procedures and policies to be people-oriented.
Furthering, Adebisi had this to say: “We are convinced that when we care for our employees, they will care for our customers, and everybody wins. The customers win, the employees are fulfilled, the society is better, and the marketplace prospers.”
“So, to be awarded three awards by a prestigious human capital institution such as CIPM is something we take seriously. It is a confirmation that our people philosophy is in tune with the realities of today’s workforce requirements,” she added.
Continuing, she congratulated the HR team, saying: “I congratulate our HR team for consistently embodying our Employee Value Proposition. I understand the dedication and precision involved in achieving each of these awards, so winning three in a single year is a clear testament to the great work we are doing for our employees.
“This achievement not only solidifies our position as an industry leader but also reaffirms our commitment to being a people-oriented, role-model organization,” she added.
Omowunmi Mabel Adewusi, the General Counsel and Human Resources Director at AXA Mansard Plc, added that the honors are yet another indication of the company’s HR best practices and their genuine influence on workers’ overall well-being.
She went on to say: “These awards underscore that our ‘Dare and Care’ philosophy is a driving force within our organisation. Being recognized as the company with the Best HR Practice within the insurance sector—and across multiple industries in Nigeria—is a significant accomplishment. This recognition reflects the bold, forward-thinking policies and initiatives we have put in place to ensure our employees are engaged, productive, and find purpose in their work each day.
“For example, our AXA ‘We Care’ Program offers employees benefits such as menstrual leave, paternity leave, psychological assistance, caregiver leave, maternity leave, teleconsultation services, free medical check-ups, minimum financial coverage in the case of cancer, and many more.
“We understand, for example, that women’s menstrual cycle is not what we are culturally tuned to discussing, especially with managers of the opposite sex. But it’s a key part of the women’s wellbeing, so what we have done is to ensure that women can take leave days if they need to during their monthly cycle,” she added.
BrandSpur national news stories reports that the four primary policy pillars that support the AXA “We Care” initiative are as follows:
Employees who provide care for members of their immediate family who need elder care or care because of a serious illness or disability are entitled to up to five days of fully paid absence under the caregiver policy.
Policy against domestic and sexual violence: AXA opposes these forms of abuse. AXA pledges to offer five days of fully paid leave, flexible work schedules, specialized support services, and psychological help to any employee affected by such a circumstance.
Parental policy: The “We Care” program offers male employees an extended period of completely paid paternity leave for up to 10 working days, in addition to the already-existing fully paid maternity leave for female employees. Employees undergoing in-vitro fertilization or experiencing pregnancy loss will be supported by additional leave and flexible work schedules.
The Healthy You initiative: This health and wellness program, which was introduced in 2020, offers AXA workers a number of perks, including medical checkups, psychological support, teleconsultation services, minimum financial coverage for cancer, and more.
The initiative will be expanded to provide a friendly work environment for individuals who are going through andropause, menopause, or menstrual health issues.
