Over the weekend, MTN Nigeria took its Go Make A Difference (Go M.A.D.) campaign to the Sugarland, Luxury City Hotel in Aba, the epicentre of Nigeria’s entrepreneurial energy.
The initiative is already having a significant impact in places including Abuja, Enugu, Calabar, Ibadan, and Benin. Its goal is to empower and celebrate local changemakers while inspiring people nationwide to take decisive action in their towns and fields.
Prinna Nnanna, the Creative Director, Model Coach, and Fashion Designer of Style by Prinna, was one of the event’s most notable speakers. Prinna, who is well-known for coaching up-and-coming models in the area, transformed the occasion into a runway moment by presenting an entire collection of athleisure clothing.
According to Prinna: “I’d been following the MTN Go M.A.D campaign on social media, especially the Calabar and Enugu editions.
“When the hotel manager told me MTN was bringing the campaign here, I knew I had to be part of it. At first, he just asked me to make his outfit for the event—but then he invited me to show more of my work. I made all the outfits you saw on the runway just last night,” Prinna added.
Continuing, Prinna has this to say to MTN for projecting his brand: “I run an online business, and MTN helps me advertise, network, and connect with customers. Just at this event, two people already reached out to say they loved the pieces I showcased.”
Dr Precious Uche, the CEO of Tonatel Beauty and Spa and a cosmetic scientist, was also acknowledged as a Go M.A.D icon. Her main objective was to redefine Nigerian beauty standards.
According to her: “There are so many damaging ideas about what good skin should look like. My business stands against bleaching and promotes the message that black is beautiful. I want people to appreciate their natural skin tone.”
MTN’s data services have enabled Dr. Uche to increase her online activism and her customer base in Owerri and Aba, she said.
The Founder of Mua Couture, Michael Chinedu Ogbonna, offered another motivational speech and discussed how technology has changed his fashion company. He said: “Data has been helpful. The internet has made the world a global village. What used to take days now takes minutes. I now design clothes for people not just in Nigeria, but in Malaysia, the US, and Canada.”
BrandSpur telecom and information news reports that the Go M.A.D campaign highlights true transformation stories in each place it visits, demonstrating that even modest actions can lead to significant change. MTN is still dedicated to honouring Nigerians’ tenacity, inventiveness, and resolve. In the upcoming weeks, the program is expected to expand to additional cities.
