Obat Oil has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its retail footprint to 200 service stations across Nigeria, reinforcing its position as a leading indigenous player in the downstream petroleum sector. The strategy forms part of the company’s long-term vision to improve accessibility, operational efficiency, and cleaner energy adoption nationwide.
The company, led by Group Managing Director Akinfemiwa Akinruntan, highlighted integrity and consistency as core strategic advantages that have underpinned its decades-long presence in Nigeria’s energy market. Obat Oil has leveraged trust, market understanding, and adherence to quality standards to maintain relevance in an increasingly competitive sector.
Brandspur Brand News reports that Obat Oil is actively modernising its operations through enterprise-wide digital systems, including ERP platforms, to boost transparency, streamline logistics, and improve decision-making across depots and retail outlets. The company has also strengthened partnerships with major players such as the Dangote refinery, enhancing domestic product sourcing, stabilising pricing, and improving supply reliability.
Akinruntan emphasised that technological integration is central to Obat Oil’s operational model, providing real-time monitoring from storage facilities to retail stations. Investments in jetties, tank farms, and upgraded logistics infrastructure, including a 160-metre Apapa jetty, ensure consistent fuel availability and efficient distribution nationwide.
The GMD further noted that the post-subsidy environment and increased local refining capacity create opportunities for indigenous marketers to compete effectively, encouraging efficiency, innovation, and enhanced customer service. Obat Oil’s expansion plans include franchising initiatives to accelerate growth while maintaining high operational and brand standards.
In addition to traditional petroleum products, Obat Oil is preparing for the energy transition by investing in LPG and CNG infrastructure, with pilot projects underway in Ondo and Ogun States, and commercial operations expected before the end of 2026. These moves aim to meet rising demand for cleaner fuels and align with global sustainability trends.
As competition intensifies in Nigeria’s downstream sector, Obat Oil remains focused on scaling operations, leveraging technology, and delivering reliable energy solutions. Nigerians can anticipate expanded service access, improved product availability, and enhanced customer experience across the company’s growing retail network in the years ahead.
