
Pan-African investment company, Heirs Holdings, has announced the appointment of Obinna Ufudo and Sola Yomi-Ajayi as non-executive directors, reinforcing its board with senior expertise across banking, energy, governance and global financial markets.
The appointments form part of the group’s ongoing effort to strengthen board oversight and deepen strategic leadership as it expands its footprint across key sectors of the African economy.
Heirs Holdings said both directors bring decades of experience spanning financial services, corporate governance, regulatory engagement, enterprise risk management and large-scale investments across Africa and international markets.
Brandspur Brand News reports that the board expansion reflects Heirs Holdings’ emphasis on strong corporate governance and long-term value creation across its diverse investment portfolio.
Sola Yomi-Ajayi brings more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry, having held senior leadership roles at United Bank for Africa (UBA). She previously served as Executive Director at UBA, led its International Business operations and was Country Chief Executive Officer of UBA America.
She currently sits on the boards of UBA United Kingdom and the Business Council for International Understanding and is a member of the OECD Blue Dot Network Executive Consultation Group. Her past roles include serving on the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee of the United States Export-Import Bank and the Board of Trustees of the Institute of International Banking in the United States.
Yomi-Ajayi holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute in the United Kingdom and a member of the Association of MBAs. Her executive education includes corporate governance training at the Wharton Business School and leadership certification from Harvard Business School.
Obinna Ufudo also joins the board with over 30 years of leadership experience across banking, investment management, energy and corporate transformation. He previously served as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at Heirs Holdings.
Ufudo was also President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), where he led a major turnaround strategy and oversaw the acquisition of the Ughelli Power Plant, one of Nigeria’s largest power assets.
In addition, he is the founder and chairman of Atiat Leasing Limited and co-founder and chairman of LoanBook Limited. His academic background includes executive and postgraduate qualifications from the Wharton School, the University of Reading and IESE Business School. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
Commenting on the appointments, Founder and Group Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, said the new directors bring valuable experience aligned with the group’s investment philosophy.
Elumelu said the appointments would further strengthen Heirs Holdings’ leadership in pan-African proprietary investments, adding that both directors exemplify the principles of Africapitalism through their professional track records and contributions to economic development.
