MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has achieved two major international certifications in information technology, reinforcing its position as a leader in telecoms infrastructure, digital service delivery, and corporate governance standards.

The company announced that it has been awarded the ISO/IEC 20000 certification for IT Service Management Systems (ITSM), alongside the ISO/IEC 38500:2024 certification for IT Governance Management Systems.

The certifications are globally recognised benchmarks that validate strong operational processes, structured IT service delivery, and internationally compliant governance frameworks within large organisations.

Brandspur Brand News reports that the ISO/IEC 20000 certification confirms MTN Nigeria’s ability to design, deliver, and continuously improve IT services in line with global best practices, ensuring consistent service quality for millions of customers across the country.

The second certification, ISO/IEC 38500:2024, marks a significant governance milestone, positioning MTN Nigeria as the first telecommunications company in Nigeria and within the wider MTN Group to attain the standard.

It evaluates how organisations manage IT-enabled systems, data, and digital infrastructure, with emphasis on accountability, transparency, performance monitoring, and strategic alignment between technology and business goals.

MTN Nigeria stated that the dual certifications reflect its commitment to strengthening operational discipline, enhancing service reliability, and embedding globally recognised governance structures across its digital ecosystem.

The company, which serves more than 87.3 million subscribers nationwide, said the achievement will further improve efficiency in service delivery and reinforce risk management across its network operations.

It added that the certifications align with its broader transformation strategy focused on building a future-ready organisation powered by scalable digital platforms and resilient infrastructure.

MTN Nigeria has continued to invest heavily in technology systems to support connectivity, enterprise solutions, and emerging digital services in Africa’s largest telecom market.

The recognition is expected to enhance customer confidence, improve internal processes, and strengthen MTN’s competitiveness within Nigeria’s fast-evolving telecommunications sector.
