FirstHoldCo Plc has become the first Nigerian banking group to exceed a market capitalisation of N6 trillion after its valuation climbed to approximately N6.21 trillion during trading on August 3, 2026, reinforcing its position as the country’s most valuable listed banking institution.
The milestone was achieved as the company’s share price rose to N136.50, with about 45.48 billion shares outstanding, marking another significant advance in a year that has seen exceptional investor demand for the banking group’s stock.
The latest valuation comes less than two weeks after FirstHoldCo crossed the N5 trillion market capitalisation threshold for the first time, highlighting the sustained momentum in the company’s share performance. Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the rally has been supported by strong investor confidence following the release of the group’s half-year 2026 financial results.
At its current price, FirstHoldCo’s shares have recorded a year-to-date gain of nearly 185 per cent, while delivering an increase of more than 143 per cent since the end of June, making the stock one of the Nigerian Exchange’s strongest performers in 2026.
The historic achievement further strengthens FirstHoldCo’s leadership position within Nigeria’s banking sector and reflects growing market optimism about the company’s earnings outlook, capital strength and long-term growth prospects.
Crossing the N6 trillion valuation mark also represents a major milestone for Nigeria’s capital market, underscoring increasing investor participation in banking stocks and reinforcing the sector’s role as one of the primary drivers of value creation on the Nigerian Exchange in 2026.
